122 Stab Wounds Biography

122 Stab Wounds were a Norwegian death metal band formed in 1989. They were formerly known as Agony then changed name to 122 Stab Wounds.

The band name is derived from four murders in which the victims were in total stabbed 122. According to the booklet of The Deity of Perversion: "On the 23rd of October 1982, a boy was found stabbed to death 32 times", "On the 4th of November 1962, police found a dead man. He was stabbed 41 times", "On the 11th of September 1969 police discovered a dead girl in her own house. She was stabbed 19 times", "On the 26th of October 1979, a woman was discovered dead in her home. She had been stabbed 30 times".

However, after the release of their debut album, the members had little time for this band as they were occupied with their other projects including Gehenna and Forlorn. In 2002 the band decided to focus more on 122 Stab Wounds and changed name to The Deviant, and as such released their second album Ravenous Deathworship in 2005.
