Ben Christophers Biography

With his knack for frail melodies and not-quite-folk leanings, Wolverhampton singer/songwriter Ben Christophers has been favorably compared to Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke, Mark Hollis, and Art Garfunkel. Christophers signed on with V2 in the U.K., who released his 1999 album My Beautiful Demon, which was produced by Faultline's David Kosten. At the time of its release, the only live experience Christophers had under his belt involved one-man shows beneath a local pizza restaurant. Several months after Demon's release, Christophers began gigging with a keyboardist, a double bassist, and a drummer. Appearances at several festivals -- including Glastonbury and Reading -- increased his profile and Christophers soon began working on his second album. Recorded with the assistance of Kosten, Spoonface was released in late 2001, receiving a similar degree of praise from critics. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
