Cauldron Born Biography

Oakwood, GA's spectacularly named Cauldron Born mixed ingredients of '90s European power metal with the previous decade's American style -- part traditional, part progressive -- typified by the early work of Fates Warning. Formed in late 1994 from the remnants of the Howie Bentley Band, Cauldron Born featured vocalist Danny White, guitarist Howie Bentley, bassist Shawn Kascak, and drummer Bill Parsons, and quickly endeared itself to European metal fans with 1997's Born of the Cauldron debut, released by Italy's Underground Symphony label. Their sophomore effort, God of Metal, followed just one year later but didn't fare nearly as well (possibly because it was actually comprised of recycled demos), and it would take all of four years and the arrival of new vocalist David Louden to get Cauldron Born moving forward once again with 2002's ...And Rome Shall Fall opus. All for naught, as it were, since the band quietly decided to break up a short while later. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
