Lalaine Biography

Best known as Miranda Sanchez, Lizzie McGuire's best friend on The Lizzie McGuire Show, actress/singer/dancer Lalaine is the second star from that series to begin a recording career. She began performing at an early age, and toured the United States in a production of Les Miserables when she was nine years old. After that, Lalaine focused on her acting for a few years: appearances in commercials and the video for Tom Petty's single "Walls" led to a role as one of the orphans in Disney's movie version of the musical Annie. Soon after, she landed the role of Miranda Sanchez, and when she performed a song on an episode of Lizzie McGuire, Disney producers soon put her singing and acting talents to use in the Disney Channel film You Wish, in which she starred and performed the title track. The soundtrack to another Disney Channel movie, Pixel Perfect, featured her second single, "If You Wanna Rock." Lalaine also headlined a Radio Disney tour and appeared on the Disneymania, Vol. 3 collection with a cover of "Cruella De Vil." She moved beyond Disney with appearances on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a role on the Filipino series FlipSide, and a record deal with Warner Bros. Lalaine worked on her debut album with producer Rob Cavallo, who has also collaborated with Green Day and Alanis Morissette. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
