Lazyboy Biography

Lazyboy was a project helmed by producers Johnny Douglas (George Michael, Kylie Minogue) and Soren Rasted (co-founder of Aqua). With the November 2004 full-length Lazyboy TV (released through Universal), Lazyboy drew from and commented on 21st century pop culture, while offering insight into humans' collective need for fulfillment in both life and love. With the work of singers, voiceover artists, and other contributors layered over a bed of samples and soft electronic programming, the cumulative effect was one of humanism set on burst mode. "Man Woman (Yin & Yang)" explored sexual politics in a series of catch phrases; the voice on "Inhale Positivity" encouraged listeners to "smile at a stranger on the street"; and "Facts of Life" recited a list of surprising, insightful, and sometimes unsettling facts and averages over gentle dance beats. Collaborators on Lazyboy TV included vocalist Andrea Grant, British actor Christopher Fairbanks (providing the voice on a cover of the 1971 Les Crane inspirational hit "Desiderata"), and New York City comic Greg Giraldo, whose acerbically funny ranting provided the hook for the Internet download hit "Underwear Goes Inside the Pants." ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
