Order From Chaos Biography

The Kansas City, MO, metal trio Order from Chaos formed in 1987 with a lineup consisting of Pete Helmkamp (bass, vocals), Chuck Keller (guitar), and Mike Miller (drums). Inspired by bands such as Venom, Bathory, and Celtic Frost, the trio played a raw, messy, up-tempo brand of music that straddled the line between thrash and death metal. They recorded a trio of demos in the late '80s, the last of which, Crushed Infamy, led to their first record deal. The group's full-length debut, Stillbirth Machine, surfaced in 1993 on Wild Rags Records. Several EPs and 7"s, as well as another full-length, Dawn Bringer, followed before the band decided to call it quits in 1995. Their third and final album, An Ending in Fire, was recorded that year but not released until 1998, when the French Osmose Productions imprint put it out. That same year, Osmose also reissued Stillbirth Machine, with Crushed Infamy tacked on as a bonus. Helmkamp, whose extra-musical activities have included a book on occultism entitled The Conqueror Manifesto: Capricornus Teitan, later went on to form the death metal band Angelcorpse. ~ William York, All Music Guide
