So Solid Crew Biography

The genesis for this group was MC Megaman and MC Romeo, both of whom were promoting various British garage club shows as well as other parties. The parties, named So Solid as part of the promotions, grew in popularity. In 1998, while meeting at the Killer Watt Carnival Soundsystem, the group was created. In December 2000, the band released its first single, "Oh No," which reached the British charts. In August 2001, the band hit number one in the singles charts with "21 Seconds." This was followed by a MOBO Award for Best British Act and also a Brit Award for Best Video. Unfortunately though, controversy surrounded the band. In October 2001, two men were shot at one of the group's concerts in London. The publicity meant a canceled British tour. In November 2001, the band released its debut album, They Don't Know, on Relentless Records. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
