Thorr's Hammer Biography

The product of a six-week, two-concert collaboration, Ballard, WA-based doom metal/death metal group Thorr's Hammer was conceived by guitarists Greg Anderson (later of Goatsnake and Sunn 0]]], among other groups) and Stephen O'Malley (future Burning Witch, Khanate, and also Sunn 0]]] member) in the winter of 1994-1995. After calling upon bassist James Hale and drummer Jamie Sykes, the duo recruited 17-year-old Norwegian singer and lyricist Runhild Gammelsaeter (aka Ozma) to serve as the wild card in their typically crawling, crushing doom metal/death metal sound. A record of their dark but brief association, the three-song Dommedagsnatt was originally released only on cassette by Moribund Records, but was later given a CD reissue by Southern Lord, first in 1998, then again in 2004 with an ultra-rare video of Thorr's Hammer performing live as an added multimedia element. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
