Young Divas Biography

Female vocal pop group Young Divas are made up of former winners of the American Idol franchise Australian Idol. Third-season contestants Emily Williams and Kate DeAraugo were assembled by Idol execs as a duo in 2006. Sony BMG soon saw a golden opportunity, and added Paulini Curuenavuli (first-season winner) and Ricki-Lee Coulter (second-season winner) into the mix. The group's first single, Donna Summer's "This Time I Know It's for Real," was released in May of 2006, and quickly reached number two on the ARIA charts. Due to the overwhelming response, the group flew to Sydney to shoot the single's video. A short time later their follow-up single hit the market, a cover of Lonnie Gordon's "Happenin' All Over Again," which scored the group its second Top Ten hit. Young Divas' self-titled debut album was released in November of 2006, going platinum by its third week and double platinum by its sixth. Subsequent television appearances have been numerous, including appearances on Dancing with the Stars and It Takes Two.
